United Consumers Members Targeted With Text Scam

Scammers contacted many UCCU members by text over the holiday weekend in an attempt to gain account information and access. Members with phone numbers (816) 665-XXXX or (816) 213-XXXX have confirmed receiving the message, but additional numbers may have been targeted.

The fraudulent text message reads as follows:
“This is an automated message from United Consumers CU. Your ATM card has been suspended. To reactivate call urgent at 18775044105.”

Another text message reads:
"United Consumers Credit Union alert. Your card has been deactivated. To reactivate your card please contact us at 816-735-0454. "

Members should not call this number, nor should they provide any personal or account information to any person or entity that cannot be verified as a credit union employee. If you have received this text, or any other suspicious communications from United Consumers Credit Union, please contact us immediately.

Remember, United Consumers Credit Union will never contact you via text to conduct personal or financial business.

Thank you for helping us to keep your accounts secure. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this alert, call the credit union at (816) 325-6900 or toll free at (800) 580-9303.
